Abstract

The dynamics of two-mass vibratory conveyor with independent electromagnetic drives of horizontal and vertical oscillations of conveying track is considered. Vibratory conveyor is intended for massive piece goods moving in non-jumping modes. A change of goods’ mass sufficiently influences the amplitude of vertical oscillations and, to a lesser extent, the amplitude of horizontal oscillations. This change leads to decrease of productivity due to decrease of the conveying velocity or breaks the non-jumping modes of moving. It was noted that with certain ratio of two masses of conveyor and resonant tuning (the ratio of forced frequency of oscillations to natural frequency of vertical oscillations) the amplitude of vertical oscillations with change of goods’ mass remains almost unchanged. The formulas that allow determining these ratios with a known coefficient of relative damping are derived for a case when the goods’ mass varies from zero to a value equal to the mass of the working body of conveyor. Along with accurate analytical expressions, the solution of which requires the use of numerical calculation methods, the simple approximate formula is derived which makes it easy to calculate the values of the required parameters of the vibratory conveyor. These parameters are the ratio between the masses of the working body and the reactive plate, the natural frequency of vertical oscillations, the value of which is determined by the parameters of springs of the elastic system.

The use of the results obtained in the article is of great practical importance for creating, without design’s complication, the vibratory conveyors with independent electromagnetic drive of horizontal and vertical oscillations, which allow conveying the massive goods with high stable productivity. For this purpose, it is needed with known ratio between conveyor’s masses and relative damping to calculate the vertical stiffness of elastic system, which would provide the necessary value of resonant tuning.
